F.A.Q.
- 1) How long will it take to build my new home?
-
That depends on the size of your new home, site restrictions, and council approvals. Jennian has been building homes for New Zealanders for almost 30 years so we know how to ensure that your home is completed on time. We’ll work with you on a fixed completion date during the construction of your home.
- 2) Where is my nearest showhome and when can I visit one?
-
We have showhomes in almost every region, so check out the ‘showhomes’ pages to see the one closest to you. Most of our showhomes have usual weekday hours, and are open during the weekends too.
- 3) Can I make changes to the plans once construction has started?
-
This will depend on the nature of the alterations as they can affect the Council approved plans. Non-structural changes are usually no issue and can be achieved via a variation to the original contract.
- 4) What are the main types of building products/fixtures you use?
-
We only deal with industry leaders and trusted New Zealand brands like Carters, Plumbing World, James Hardie®, Gib®, Monier® and Pink Batts®, ensuring that everything that goes into your home is of a high standard, backed by the best in the business.
- 5) Who will be working on my new home?
-
You deserve the best and we have chosen top quality builders, trades people, subcontractors and suppliers to deliver you a quality dream home that you’ll be proud of for many years to come.
- 6) Can I make regular visits to the building site?
-
Yes, it’s your home, so of course you can! Your New Home Consultant will work with you every step of the way and arrange regular site visits so you can see the progress. You also have access to the ‘My Jennian’ webpage where you can read about and view photos of your new home being built and even share this with friends and family all over the world.
- 7) Do you guarantee your homes?
-
Yes we do; on top of a seven year Master Build guarantee and applicable supplier warranties and guarantees, under the Building Act your Jennian builder provides you with warranties as to the quality of your home for a period of 10 years.
- 8) What does the Master Build guarantee mean?
-
It covers you in the unlikely event of:
a) Loss of deposit
b) Non-completion of building
c) Material, workmanship and structural cover
For more information, visit www.masterbuilder.org.nz - 9) How can I be sure that my home will be completed?
-
In almost 30 years, Jennian has never failed to complete a home and you have a 100% commitment that your home will be completed. Other builders now feel that they need to make a big deal out of this. We just do it, as we have done consistently for nearly three decades!
- 10) How much deposit do I have to put down?
-
During the design phase of your home there may be a pre-consent deposit required to cover draughting costs. (This amount is taken off the contract price if you decide to build with Jennian Homes.) Upon signing the contract a deposit of 5% of the contract price to build your home is required for work to commence.
- 11) Where can I read more about Jennian Homes?
-
You can call your local Jennian Homes consultant, or drop in to your local showhome and check out our home brochures. You can find the Jennian Homes nearest you here.
- 12) I’ve read a lot about future proofing, what is it and how will it apply to my new home?
-
Put simply, Future-Proof Building means building homes that are better to live in today, that are worth more in the future. We are industry leaders in pioneering the focus towards a home that is safer, warmer, healthier and a better quality, more comfortable home for you to live in now and into the future. Your New Home Consultant will discuss any future proofing options you wish to add to your home during the design and specifications stages of the adventure.
