East West home is best

New Plymouth expats Dilip and Leisa Patel have returned to the place they call home as the new owners of Jennian Homes Taranaki.

Taranaki-landscape.jpgAfter 16 years abroad and in Auckland, the opportunity to wave goodbye to the rat race and own their own business was too good to miss. “We’ve always dreamed of coming home and bringing up our family in the place we grew up. We want our kids to have the same magic Kiwi childhood we did, with similar freedom and experiences. Now we’ve moved back to New Plymouth, they can.”

The couple have three children – Kavi, four, three-year-old Sejal and Jayin, who is one. “They love living here – we’re all enjoying a better, more relaxed lifestyle, with everything we could want right on our doorstep. For us, coming home means building a better future for our whole family.”

With Kavi starting school, the timing seemed perfect. But the move into business ownership ticks lots of other boxes too for this career-driven couple. The wealth of skills they bring to this new venture is helping them provide exceptional service and a great product to aspiring home-builders in Taranaki.

Dilip has over 18 years experience in the building industry, which all started in New Plymouth. He is a qualified architectural designer and has spent the last 10 years in an advisory role with Future-Proof Building. This saw Dilip building educational show homes around the country. These show homes are a destination choice for people who want to discover how to build or renovate a future-proof home. The programme helps people make important decisions about how they can ensure their home is fully functional today and in the future, as their needs change. Dilip is keen to introduce and apply the full suite of future-proof building philosophies to the Taranaki new home market and help people here realise their dreams.

Leisa is a chartered accountant who has spent the past nine years with PricewaterhouseCoopers, one of the world’s largest professional services firms. Her experience in the corporate and middle markets provides a solid foundation for the opportunities this business presents.

For most of us building a new home is the biggest investment we can make. Not just financially, but in time and mental effort. Dilip and Leisa recognise that building a new home is likely to be a journey of self-discovery and they believe the experience should be entirely positive. They want to share that with their clients.

“We look forward to meeting our new clients and finding out what coming home means to them.”
