Tim Arlott has been peddling his way to not only a better lifestyle, but also towards helping the Heart Foundation raise almost $2600 in his first few months as an official Heart Racer.

After attending the launch of the ‘Go Red for Women’ campaign last year, Tim was inspired to make some changes to his life, leaving the event stunned at what he had heard:
‘Cardiovascular disease is the single leading cause of death in New Zealand. The nature of who is affected by it is changing. Much of this change is due to unhealthy lifestyles - poor eating habits and lack of physical activity.
Tim runs the West Auckland franchise of Jennian Homes with his wife Cheryl and says that being self employed had led him to develop bad habits.
“Working too many hours and not eating the right food at the right time meant I was just falling out of bed in the morning and going to work. My life needed an overhaul. This seemed like a great excuse to change my lifestyle and to do something positive at the same time.”
Tim made drastic changes to his lifestyle and exercise habits and signed up as an official Heart Racer with the Heart Foundation in February.
He completed the Rotorua to Whakatane cycle race in April this year and hopes to raise even more by taking part in the ‘Round Taupo 160km Challenge’ in November.
Tim says his support of the foundation aligns with Jennian Homes being a proud supporter of the Heart Foundation’s Go Red for Women Campaign, building healthier homes for New Zealanders and keeping families together for longer.
“Signing up as a Heart Racer is a genuine win-win situation. I benefit from leading a healthier lifestyle and at the same time can help to highlight a cause that directly benefits so many New Zealanders”
