Code Red - We need your help

Go Red for Women is the Heart Foundation’s rallying call to all New Zealand women to take control of their heart health and support this life saving campaign. This year the alert has been escalated to Code Red. Jennian Homes is delighted to be a sponsor of the Go Red for Women programme and, like the Heart Foundation, is determined to help raise awareness of the prevalence of heart disease, promote the importance of heart health  and encourage everyone to support the campaign. Proceeds from the programme will help establish a dedicated fund for women’s heart health research.

From the heart: Jennian Homes Mother’s Day 5k

2011 saw the beginnings of a national roll out for this fantastic event. We launched the event in Nelson in 2009, inspired by the Heart Foundation’s Go Red for Women campaign – which celebrates the energy, passion and power women have to band together to beat heart disease. The fun run and walk has grown in popularity. For the first time, women in Northland, Whakatane and Nelson took part and more events are in the pipeline for next year. Though the emphasis on the day is about fun, the message is serious: women need to take the time to care for themselves to make them healthy and strong, so they can keep on caring for their families. For more information on the Jennian Homes Mother’s Day 5k, including locations and event details, keep checking back on the website. www.facebook.com/jennianhomes

A thank you from Dame Jenny Shipley

March 2011

To Jennian Homes Management and Staff,

I wanted to send a personal message to thank you all for your on-going commitment to the Heart Foundation’s Go Red For Women campaign. Since 2008, we have enjoyed the support of Jennian Homes in our on-going drive to improve the heart health of all New Zealand women through education and research. Jennian Homes has led from the front and has been the key sponsor of our national annual series of Go Red For Women Breakfasts which will next be held in September 2011. Some Jennian franchisees also initiate fundraising activities in their local area to support the cause. Heart disease is the single biggest killer of New Zealand women.  Equally alarming is that research shows 74% of New Zealand women are unaware of this statistic. Go Red for Women is working to raise awareness among women and their families and stop deaths that are often premature and preventable. Through Go Red For Women, the Heart Foundation is creating a movement that shows women nationwide how to reduce their risk of heart disease and live longer, healthier lives. The Heart Foundation dedicates all funds raised through Go Red For Women into improving heart disease awareness amongst women and dedicated women’s heart health research. The support of our key sponsor, Jennian Homes, ultimately provides researchers into heart disease prevention with more resources for their vital work.

I look forward to continuing to work with you all as we strive to make a real difference to the lives of New Zealanders.

Together we will beat heart disease.

Kind regards
